JOB PURPOSE
Direct Medical are seeking a Sleep Technician to join their growing team supporting patients undergoing home sleep studies. This role is primarily field-based and involves travelling to patients’ homes to set up monitoring equipment, explain how it works, and return to collect the equipment following completion of the study. This position offers the opportunity to work closely with patients in their own homes while supporting the delivery of important diagnostic testing. The ideal candidate will have a healthcare background, ideally nursing, and be comfortable working independently in a mobile role.
PRIMARY DUTIES & AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY
- Travel to patients’ homes across Cork, Kerry and Tipperary to conduct sleep study appointments
- Set up sleep monitoring equipment and ensure it is functioning correctly
- Demonstrate clearly how the equipment should be used during the overnight study
- Provide reassurance and answer patient questions regarding the process
- Return to collect monitoring equipment following completion of the study
- Ensure equipment is transported and returned safely
- Maintain accurate patient records and study documentation
- Work with the clinical team to ensure sleep studies are completed correctly
- Maintain high standards of professionalism and patient care
About Sleep Studies
A sleep study (polysomnography) is a non-invasive overnight examination used to monitor how the body functions during sleep. It can help identify sleep-related conditions such as Sleep Apnoea. The study measures several functions during sleep including, oxygen levels, heart rate, breathing patterns and body movements.
Requirements
- Qualified Nurse preferred (or relevant healthcare background)
- Full clean driving licence (essential)
- Comfortable working independently in a field-based role
- Strong communication and patient interaction skills
- Good organisational and time management abilities
- Willingness to travel across Cork, Kerry and Tipperary
- Flexibility to travel further afield if required
